Job Summary
- Demonstrates leadership skills in the department with planning new and innovative ideas and programs.
- Coordinates and supervises internal and contracted enrichment and transportation staff to ensure a wide variety of stimulating and meaningful events and activities are offered.
- Responsible for hiring and supervision of the life enrichment assistant staff and transportation drivers when community does not have a Concierge Services Manager.
- Prepares and delivers job performance evaluations for departmental employees in accordance with company polices and returns to the Executive Director.
- Initiates disciplinary action of departmental staff following established policies and procedures.
- Ensures there is proper documentation of all departmental staff performance issues.
- Provides the orientation and training of employees per facility policy and monitors ongoing performance.
- Assists in maintaining and updating job descriptions and employees records.
- Recruit and oversee all contracted entertainers and activity facilitators.
- Completes a Life Enrichment assessment with all new residents and utilizes the information to inform and engage each resident appropriately for social, educational, spiritual, psychological, and committee events.
- Implements and maintains the event sign-ups and reservations for all life enrichment programs.
- Educates residents on the policies and procedures for event reservations and sign-ups.
- Plans and implements a newsletter and calendar for all life enrichment programs and events.
- Strives to have a life enrichment program designed to:
- Stimulate physical and mental abilities fully.
- Encourage and develop a sense of usefulness and self-respect.
- Include activities that inhibit, prevent or overcome the development of symptoms of physical and mental regression due to illness or old age.
- Include, whenever possible, the resident and his/her family in planning of and participation in activities.
- Be of sufficient variety that they meet the needs of various interest of residents in the Community.
- Involve the resident in group/individual projects or programs if they so desire.
- Conducts recreational activities, both indoor and outdoor.
- Offers opportunity for residents to participate in activities outside the Community.
- Conducts educational, creative, expressive activities and exercise.
- Supervises scheduling and posting of all events and programs in a manner to encourage participation and enthusiasm among residents.
- Attends and supervises programs at times other than regularly scheduled duty hours when needed.
- Assists with preparing and distributing a Community Newsletter on a monthly basis.
- Supervises Volunteer Program, responsible for all aspects of training and placing volunteers. Be available to volunteers to answer questions, hear suggestions, or problems.
- Meets with other Senior Living life enrichment coordinators on a regular basis to share ideas and coordinate the sharing of educational or other materials.
- Prepares monthly resident engagement and activity reports using template provided by Senior Living Management.
- Participates in fire drills.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be a high school graduate.
- Must be eligible for Certification as a recreation therapist or assistant therapist or must have experience and education with a focus on sociology, psychology, etc. and/or activity certification.
- Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.
- Must be willing to work and cooperate well with other employees.
- Must be able to problem -solve.
- Must be able to work well under pressure.
- Must be willing to perform various jobs.
- Must care for equipment used.
- Must use supplies economically. Will have prior authorization from Executive Director before making purchases above monthly budgeted allowance.
- Demonstrates neat appearance and good personal hygiene.
- Wears appropriate attire in keeping with Community dress code.
- Must read, know and follow personnel, department and Community policy.
- Runs errands as necessary.
- Must assist with transporting resident. (This could be driving van or driving to an event to accompany residents.)
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
