HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT
Job Summary
- Due to the nature of the job, a high degree of confidentiality and ethics are mandatory
- Maintain Provider visit log, at least monthly
- Scans applicable documentation into software system to maintain the most up-to-date & accurate clinical chart
- Monitor and maintain orders pending signature and monthly order reviews in the software system
- Enter vital baselines in software system.
- Conduct specific audits deemed necessary by the HIM Manager.
- Meets with HIM Manager on a monthly basis to offer concerns, solutions and suggestions to improve department.
- Print copies of documentation from the EHR system upon ROI request
- In case of fire or fire drill:
- Shut off all electrical equipment within HIM office
- Report to designated area
- In case of evacuation:
- Reports to evacuation assembly area and documents patient arrival
- Pulls Facesheet/Diagnosis sheet binder from HIM office to identify residents
- Prepare emergency packet. Refer to LHRS Disaster Plan Policy
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be comfortable working on a dual-screen computer daily. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet navigation, basic file management and ability to type at a reasonable speed (approx. 40 wpm)
- Must be able to work well under pressure.
- Must be able to cooperate and effectively communicate with other staff members.
- Must be able to utilize critical thinking and problem solve.
- Demonstrates neat appearance and good personal hygiene.
- Dresses appropriately and professionally.
- Must read, know, and follow personnel, department, and facility policies.
- Must have a valid driver’s license in the state of employment
- Must be willing to perform various jobs.
