About the Job:
Shearon Environmental Design Company, a leader in the tree care and landscape industry, is seeking an experienced and dependable Tree Climber to join our Plymouth meeting team. This role requires hands-on climbing and rigging experience, as well as prior crew leadership. The Tree Climber will work with Arborists and Certified Tree Safety Professionals, supervise crews, operate equipment safely, and ensure all work meets Shearon’s high standards for safety and quality. This role also includes training opportunities toward ISA Arborist Certification and leadership development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform rope and saddle tree climbing, pruning, removal, and rigging.
- Operate chainsaws, aerial lift trucks, skid steer, forklifts, stump grinders, and other tree care equipment safely and efficiently.
- Lead a crew, assigning tasks and overseeing daily work to maintain safety and productivity.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, supervisors, and crew members.
- Maintain organized, safe, and clean job sites at all times.
- Assist in training and mentoring crew members, promoting skill development and safety awareness.
- Participate in snow removal and other seasonal work as needed.
- Step into leadership responsibilities when the crew leader is unavailable.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable tree climbing, rigging, and removal experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a crew leader.
- Certified Arborist preferred or required for Foreman role.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license; CDL preferred for Foreman role.
- Ability to operate tree care equipment safely and follow work plans.
- Strong communication skills and professionalism with clients and crew members.
- Ability to lift/carry 50–80 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions year-round.
- Must pass pre-employment substance screening, physical exam, and company driving test.
- Willingness to work 40 hours per week, weekends, and holidays when required.
- Required to work snow season
