Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options to promote lifelong dental health.
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures through four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and comfort.
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow strict infection control protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Qualifications
- Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
- Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and HIPAA compliance.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation review processes.
