Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Senior Buyer position based in Wilmington, MA. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for managing procurement processes, including sourcing and negotiating with suppliers, creating purchase orders, and maintaining supplier relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials. The role involves analyzing market trends, monitoring inventory levels, and collaborating with internal teams to meet project needs. Additionally, the Senior Buyer will oversee vendor compliance, resolve supply chain issues, and contribute to cost-saving initiatives. Must also ensure orders are delivered on time, in the right quantity, and in a manner most efficient for the company. Specific tasks include the following:


  • Plan, schedule, and manage materials for delivering time-critical components in support of production
  • Negotiate pricing and delivery to meet program needs
  • Create Purchase Orders; maintain accurate open PO lines to define inbound quantities and due dates from suppliers
  • Identify potential supply risks and inventory exposures by aligning supply chain processes with product development project plan milestones
  • Track material flow and cost for all suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to budget; expedite materials as needed based on project deadlines
  •  Plan and track pre-production builds from engineering development through hand off to production
  •  Work with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate PO to invoice match
  • Oversee the procurement function for the organization at a system-wide level
  •  Support the use of electronic requisitions from all end-users
  •  Develop custom reporting and querying for internal requirements


Qualifications

  •  Business degree or degree in supply chain management or equivalent, along with 5 years of experience in a materials management related field preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, and communications skills (oral and written)
  • Self-starter with ability to work under pressure effectively and professionally, in a team-oriented environment, with frequent changes in deadlines and priorities
  • Demonstrate initiative to create and improve upon standard procedures
  • ERP/MRP experience; familiarity with Oracle-based system (NetSuite) is a plus
  •  Strong attention to detail
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills
