What are the responsibilities and job description for the SY 2025-26 High School Band Director - BI position at Liberty County School System?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold a valid professional, renewable teaching certificate in K-12 Music Education;
- Prior experience as an assistant band director/band director, in music education or participation in a collegiate marching band;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prompt and regular attendance.
- Plans, rehearses and directs musical experiences for band students.
- Cooperates with the district and school administration in providing music programs for sporting events, school productions, graduation ceremonies and as appropriate, civic functions that enhance the students’ performing experience.
- Seeks initiates and implements participation of the band and band members in out-of-school band experiences appropriate to the curriculum and student interests.
- Manages the storage and use of school owned equipment and materials; makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required.
- Develops and implements plans for instrumental music program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
- Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Creates an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Supervisors after-school activities to include rehersals, concerts, contest and performances.
- Works with feeder schools to ensure a smooth transition for students and parents.
- Maintains a music library.
- Evaluates student performance.
- Effectively provides instruction to the assigned students.
- Effectively communicates with parents and students as appropriate.
- Stays current with teaching methodolgies, professional learning, and music education trends.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent of Schools.
Terms of Employment: 190 -Day Calendar plus 20 additinal days and position supplement/Salary is commensurate with certification level and verifiable years of experience .
