Convenience Center Custodian (Part-time)

Job Type

• Opens and closes entrance gates to assigned convenience centers. Travels between centers multiple times per shift.
• Maintains cleanliness around recycling containers and removes loose debris and improperly discarded materials. Blows off and sweeps the convenience center parking area.
• Compacts garbage container on every trip. Unclogs compactor as needed.
• Monitors the centers for safety hazards and reports maintenance or repair needs to supervisor.
• Performs maintenance pre-check on assigned vehicles. Fills up gasoline tank every shift.
• Reports illegal dumping activity to proper authorities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of county and department rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of solid waste disposal rules.
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Skill in interpersonal relations.

• The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
• The work is typically performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
• The employee is exposed to dust, dirt, odor, grease and machinery with moving parts. Work requires use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, and gloves.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• More than one (1) year of related experience preferred.
• Possession of a valid Georgia Class C driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

• The Convenience Center Custodian works up to 28 hours per week. Work may include weekends.
• As a part-time position, there are no benefits.
