Job Overview
As a Direct Support Professional, you will assists individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live more independently in their communities. Their role includes providing hands-on support with daily living activities like personal care, meal preparation, and housekeeping, while also helping to teach life skills, foster social connections, and serve as an advocate. What you’ll do
- Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities in various settings, including group homes and assisted living facilities.
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and behaviors to ensure optimal health and safety.
- Implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs, promoting independence and personal growth.
- Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Engage clients in social activities and skill-building exercises to enhance their quality of life.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and social workers to provide comprehensive care.
Basic qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR techniques.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience in home health care, hospice care, or long-term care settings.
- Familiarity with Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, and memory care practices.
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and assessment.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
