Cherokee Classical Academy seeks a full-time School Nurse. The School Nurse is responsible for providing health services that assist each student in achieving and/or maintaining optimal health through education, examinations and guidance, as well as providing skilled nursing care and first aid to students, faculty and staff. The School Nurse supports student success by providing health care through assessment, intervention, and follow-up for all children within the school. He or she addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs of students and supports their achievement in the learning process.

Cherokee Classical Academy (CCA) is a tuition-free public charter school that opened in 2025 in Canton, GA. CCA is open to grades K-7 for the 2026-2027 school year and will continue to add a grade each year until reaching a full K-12 configuration. Families who reside in the counties of Cherokee, Cobb, Bartow, Fulton, Pickens, Paulding, and the cities of Marietta, Cartersville, and Atlanta are eligible to apply for enrollment. The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
Health Care Provision
- Manage chronic diseases, disabilities, and acute conditions; provide emergency care.
- Conduct health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing, dental, scoliosis, and nutrition) and coordinate referrals to healthcare providers.
- Serve as a liaison between families, school staff, and community healthcare providers.
- Develop and manage individualized healthcare plans; oversee medication administration and healthcare procedures.
- Maintain health records and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
- Provide health education and consult with school staff and committees on accommodations and safety needs.
- Support the development of safety and emergency plans.
- Manage communicable diseases, assess safety risks, and promote preventive health measures.
- Evaluate the school environment to prevent injuries and ensure accessibility.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing required
- Three or more years of experience in the pediatric field or as a school nurse preferred
- Registered Nurse certification required
- CPR and First Aid certification required
