Director of Development

Overview

The newly formed Liberty and Justice for All Museum is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Development to lead our fundraising and donor relations efforts, fueling the growth and sustainability of our 501(c)3 organization. This pivotal role involves designing and executing comprehensive development strategies, cultivating meaningful relationships with donors, and expanding our community engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for nonprofit management, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in securing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships. Duties

• Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with organizational goals, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, grants, and special events.
• Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, alumni, volunteers, and community partners to maximize engagement and support.
• Lead proposal writing efforts for grants and sponsorships, ensuring compelling narratives that meet funder requirements. (using AI in this process is encouraged)
• Plan and execute engaging fundraising events utilizing event planning expertise to boost visibility and donor participation.
• Coordinate public relations activities to enhance organizational visibility through media outreach and community involvement.
• Prepare detailed reports on fundraising performance, data collection insights, and strategic planning recommendations for leadership review.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated, quantifiable success in nonprofit fundraising, specifically with major gifts and corporate sponsorships.
• A self-starter capable of operating independently to hit immediate, aggressive fundraising milestones.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Preferred: Prior experience in development for museums, historical societies, or cultural institutions.

We will be the first and only institution to unify the shared history of American civil liberties in one place. Rather than mirroring the divisive debates of today, our nonprofit, nonpartisan mission is to preserve the authentic stories that build common ground and inspire our future. Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
