Job Summary
As a Nanotechnology Expert in Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our understanding and capabilities in the homeland defense operational environment through 2040. In collaboration with entities like U.S Army North (USARNORTH), U.S Special Operations Command - North, and the United States Special Operations Command, you will plan, develop, and lead workshops that focus on the application and implications of nanotechnology in defense scenarios. Your research, expertise, and insights will also contribute to academic publications and high-level presentations for senior leaders within the Department of Defense. The role demands an advanced degree in nanotechnology, materials science, or a related field, a minimum of 3 years of experience, and strong collaborative skills.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and execute workshops on nanotechnology applications, challenges, and future directions in defense operations.
- Conduct research on nanomaterials, nanodevices, and other nanotechnology-related topics with a focus on defense applications.
- Contribute to academic publications that address the development and implementation of nanotechnology in homeland defense.
- Prepare and present findings to senior Department of Defense leaders, providing actionable insights and strategies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including quantum computing experts, robotics engineers, and military personnel.
- Assist in securing grants and funding for research and development projects in nanotechnology.
- Keep abreast of the latest research, trends, and advancements in the field of nanotechnology.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Physics, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in nanotechnology research and development, preferably within a defense or security context.
- Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in scientific computing tools and software.
- Familiarity with nanofabrication techniques and characterization tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- SECRET clearance
- All SMEs must be available onsite for 7 out of 9 events and able to conduct some work pre and post-events (answer questions, help with publications, etc.)
