Position Location: Tampa HQ / Onsite

Position Summary:
The Audio Visual (AV) Systems Specialist is responsible for designing, integrating, operating, and overseeing Liberty Alliance’s AV infrastructure across the organization. This role develops AV standards, manages system integrations, and exercises independent judgment in procurement, vendor selection, and technology deployment. The Specialist ensures Liberty Alliance’s enterprise AV systems meet professional-grade performance standards for meetings, conferences, and live/hybrid events. POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead setup, operation, and troubleshooting of AV systems for live and recorded events, ensuring seamless user experiences.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor AV Interns, assigning tasks, overseeing daily work, and providing performance feedback.
  • Develop and maintain AV operating procedures, system standards, and technical documentation for enterprise use.
  • Oversee AV system integration projects, including design support, vendor coordination, procurement, and implementation.
  • Apply best practices in AV networking (NDI over IP, Dante, STP/UTP) and ensure system compatibility with Liberty Alliance’s IT infrastructure.
  • Manage inventory and asset tracking of AV equipment, coordinate repairs, maintenance, and vendor service calls.
  • Collaborate with IT, facilities, and software/DevOps teams to ensure AV systems are secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Provide real-time technical support during events, while exercising judgement on problem resolution and system adjustments.
  • Recommend technology upgrades and participate in budgeting/planning for future AV needs.
  • Maintain a safe and compliant work environment; ensure all AV staff and interns follow SOPs, safety, and electrical standards.
  • Completes all other tasks and duties as needed to help drive Liberty Alliance’s Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our organization’s values.


QUALIFICATIONS
:

REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma/GED required; bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, AV Technology or related field is preferred, OR equivalent training/experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in AV systems, IT/tech integration, or live production.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, train, and coordinate the work of staff or interns.
  • Proficiency with AV hardware (displays, projectors, cameras, mixers) and troubleshooting.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow technical safety standards and direct others in proper tool/equipment use.
  • Team-focused, dependable, and adaptable to dynamic environments.
  • Onsite requirement: This is a full-time, onsite role; must be able to perform duties in person at assigned location(s).

PREFERRED:

  • Experience with BirdDog, NDI, OBS, or vMix.
  • Knowledge of enterprise AV standards (AV over IP, Dante, SDVoE).
  • Familiarity with cable types (Cat5/6, HDMI, XLR, SDI).
  • Understanding of Ohm’s Law, rack power calculations, or electrical safety.
  • Comfort with multimeters, Rj45 testers, and diagnostic tools.
  • Prior experience in AV systems design, CAD drawings, or integration projects.
  • CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) or similar certification

This is a full-time, onsite role; candidates must be able to perform duties in person at assigned location(s).


WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in office, conference rooms, and event environments, with exposure to both indoor and outdoor conditions. Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods, climb, and occasionally work in cramped spaces. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, handle cables and AV hardware, and operate power tools safely. Work may involve working at heights (ladders, step stools, or lifts) when installing or servicing equipment. Moderate noise levels may be present during events.
