Who We Are:
Liberation Programs is one of Fairfield County's leading behavioral health organizations specializing in treatment for all types of substance use disorders including alcohol, opiates, depressants and stimulants. Our goal is to help individuals and families overcome addiction in order to restore their lives and ultimately strengthen our communities. Liberation provides services for youth, adults and families that include two inpatient treatment programs, outpatient and intensive outpatient services, health education for older adults and people living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses, treatment and resources for adolescents and their families, education and prevention efforts in the community, and permanent supportive housing for families. In operation since 1971, the agency has sites in Greenwich, Stamford, Norwalk and Bridgeport and served more than 2,400 individuals in our last fiscal year.

Liberation Programs' mission is to provide prevention, treatment and recovery services to help individuals and their families impacted by substance use and mental health conditions to foster hope and maintain wellness.
Job Purpose/Function: (the main contribution of the function to the total organization.) The Cook is charged with providing three nutritious, calorie-conscious meals a day as well as snacks to clients in LPI’s long term residential program in support of their efforts to return to a healthy lifestyle free of substance abuse and addiction.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Professional Kitchen
• Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, orderly, professional environment in the kitchen and in the dining hall
• Adherence to all regulations in compliance with health and sanitation codes
2. Meal and Menu Planning
• Preparation of food that meets any special dietary concerns or needs of clients
• Advance menu planning that maximizes food supply orders
• Menu planning for weekend meals and emergency menus in the case of power loss
• With input from a professional nutritionist, plan meals that are low in calories and carbs, high in nutrition, and appealing to consume
• Plan meals that focus on fresh rather than processed foods
3. Inventory
• Maximizes the use of available inventory of food to create foods from scratch • Oversee ordering and inventory control at Lib House and FIRP to ensure cost effectivenes
Education and Experience Required
- Must have a work history that demonstrates the ability to get work accomplished on time, on budget and within predetermined specifications
- Must have strong oral and written communications skills along with the interpersonal skills to work effectively at all levels of the organization and its stakeholders
- Must hold certification in food preparation and handling.
Schedule: Sat/Sun 6am-6pm
