Role Description This is a part-time remote role for a Legal Assistant/Paralegal at Liberate Legal, PLLC. The person in this role will support attorneys by preparing, formatting, and organizing legal documents and correspondence, as well as maintaining digital case files. Day-to-day tasks include conducting basic legal and factual research, managing calendars, scheduling, and assisting with client intake and follow-up communications. The role also involves tracking case deadlines, supporting administrative processes, and ensuring all documents are accurate, complete, and filed in a timely manner. The position requires proactive communication with attorneys and clients, strong attention to detail, and comfort working independently in a remote setting. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth running of the office and effective case management. Additionally, this candidate will be efficient in case research to aid legal proceedings. Criminal and personal injury experience preferred, but not required.
Salary
$22-25/hour depending on experience and qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of law and familiarity with legal procedures, confidentiality protocol, terminology, and ethics.
- Proficiency in legal document preparation and formatting, including drafting, organizing, and reviewing legal forms and correspondence.
- Strong communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication with attorneys, clients, and external contacts.
- Experience with administrative assistance tasks, such as scheduling, file management, and data entry in a legal or professional setting.
- Prior experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal, or equivalent hands-on legal support experience.
- Comfort using case management software, cloud-based document storage, and common office productivity tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and the ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously.
- Relevant certification, diploma, or coursework in paralegal studies or a related legal field is preferred.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining confidentiality and professional discretion.
- Criminal law and personal injury experience preferred but not required.
