LiberArte Inc. is a Queens-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit nurturing artists who are co-creating joyful, abundant futures rooted in justice. Through leadership programs, fellowships, and cultural production, we support multidisciplinary artists at the intersection of creativity, healing, and community power.
Our flagship event, the Afro-Diasporic Ocean Festival, is a free annual celebration at Rockaway Beach drawing 2,000 live attendees with 100 artists, vendors, and production crew. Partners include NYSCA, DCLA, ART NY, and NYC Parks. We are a Queens Community Arts Award recipient.
Role Description
As our Festival Sponsorships Sales Intern, you'll own the end-to-end sponsorship pipeline for the Third Annual Afro-Diasporic Ocean Festival (August 15, 2026). Working directly with Festival Producer Tanya Alfonso, and LiberArte team members you'll conduct outbound outreach to NYC local businesses, pitch our four-tier sponsorship deck, handle objections, close deals, and hand off signed sponsors to our fulfillment team. This is a real sales role with real commission on a mission-driven campaign that directly funds free community programming rooted in Afro-diasporic and Indigenous culture. This is a temporary contracted role for up to 3 months through August 31, 2026.
Qualifications
Required:
- Comfort with cold outreach by phone and email
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and able to manage your own pipeline with minimal supervision
- Availability through August, approximately 10 hours per week within US business hours
Preferred:
- NYC-based or strong existing connections to NYC businesses
- Experience in sales, fundraising, development, or community outreach
- Personal connection to Afro-diasporic culture, the arts, or environmental justice work
- Familiarity with CRM tools or sales tracking systems
Compensation
$500/month base 15% commission (uncapped) on all closed sponsorships. Bonuses: $500 per Ocean Steward ($5K) deal closed.
