What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional position at Liberal R 2 School District?
Reports to: Building Principal
Terms of Employment: This contract is for approximately 9 months with salary and work year set according to the current school district calendar and salary schedule. Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
Benefits according to Board Policy Includes: Health and life insurance beginning on day one of contract date, option to purchase vision and dental insurance as well as supplemental insurance, retirement plan and 10 personal days annually.
Purpose: To provide instructional services to students for each student to access the district's facilities and programs while maintaining an environment conducive to learning.
Qualifications: You can have one of the three options for qualification: transcript with 60 college credit hours, pass the para mo gateway assessment, or complete the Missouri substitute teacher course.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Know, understand and abide by the rules and regulations and the policies and procedures of the School District and perform all duties accordingly.
- Displays enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward students, colleagues, subject matter, and the school
- Assist students with physical and adaptive care could include feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene
- Establishes and maintains high expectation standards for students and self
- Assume monitorial and supervisory duties as assigned to them by the principal(s)
- Arrive on time daily and leave no earlier than the time established by the principal(s) unless given circumstance specific permission or to attend to another school duty
- Maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning that includes classroom rules that allow for maintaining order, discipline and learning.
- Takes all precautions to protect district equipment, supplies and facilities
- Works to identify learning difficulties of students, seeking assistance from district specialists and/or administration as needed
- Encourages and actively supports a collaborative, professional working environment
- Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in accordance with Board policy and law
- Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
- Follow verbal and written instructions from teachers and administrators
- Communicate one on one and in small groups
- Attends and participates in all necessary meetings of the district and/or building
- Encourages student loyalty and pride in class and school
- Occasionally be required to work outdoors for short periods of time performing such tasks as loading and unloading students from district or parent transportation and supervising recess
- Will regularly work in a noisy and active environment
Physical Demands:
- Will regularly lift students
- May have to use therapeutic restraint
- Must have both close and distance vision
- Lift, sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, kneel, and ascend/descend to complete tasks when needed
