Accelerated Instruction Educator

Position Overview

The Accelerated Instruction Educator provides targeted academic intervention, progress monitoring, and student success coaching for students identified as academically at risk, credit deficient, chronically absent, or in need of additional support to remain on track for graduation. As an integral member of the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), this position collaborates with teachers, counselors, administrators, families, and support staff to develop individualized intervention plans that accelerate learning, improve course completion, and increase student achievement.

The Accelerated Instruction Educator serves as an advocate for student success by helping students develop executive functioning skills, strengthen academic habits, and overcome barriers that impact learning.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Intervention & Student Support

• Provide targeted academic intervention for students identified through academic, attendance, behavioral, or graduation risk data.
• Facilitate structured Accelerated Instruction periods focused on assignment completion, academic recovery, intervention, and skill development.
• Monitor student progress toward course completion, credit attainment, graduation requirements, and intervention goals.
• Provide individualized academic coaching, study skills instruction, and organizational support.
• Assist students in developing executive functioning skills, including time management, goal setting, organization, and self-advocacy.
• Support students in recovering missing assignments and improving academic performance.

Progress Monitoring & Data Analysis

• Utilize student data to identify students in need of additional intervention and monitor ongoing progress.
• Maintain accurate records of student interventions, progress, attendance, and academic outcomes.
• Assist with MTSS documentation and progress monitoring.
• Analyze student performance data to adjust intervention strategies and recommend additional supports.

Collaboration & Family Engagement

• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, intervention teams, and support staff to coordinate student success plans.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, attendance, and intervention strategies.
• Participate in MTSS meetings, intervention teams, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and student support meetings.
• Connect students and families with district and community resources when appropriate.

Student Success & School Support

• Foster positive relationships with students while encouraging responsibility, resilience, and academic perseverance.
• Support school-wide initiatives focused on attendance, graduation readiness, and academic achievement.
• Assist with credit recovery, intervention programs, and student success initiatives.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
• Valid Kansas Teaching License or appropriate licensure as required by the district.
• Knowledge of effective instructional practices, intervention strategies, and student support systems.
• Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
• Ability to analyze student performance data and develop intervention plans.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with academically at-risk students.
• Knowledge of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Response to Intervention (RTI), and intervention frameworks.
• Experience with credit recovery, graduation planning, or academic intervention programs.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Bilingual or multilingual abilities are preferred.

Terms of Employment

• Contract position.
• Work Schedule: As determined by the Board of Education.
• Contract Days: As established by the Board of Education.
• Reports To: Building Principal or Designee.
• Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board of Education policy and district evaluation procedures.

Instructional Intervention & Student Success Responsibilities

Student Contact Days

• Provide individualized and small-group academic intervention.
• Monitor student progress toward academic and graduation goals.
• Facilitate intervention sessions focused on skill development and assignment completion.
• Support implementation of MTSS intervention plans.
• Collaborate with teachers to provide instructional support and monitor student achievement.
• Encourage student engagement, accountability, and positive academic habits.

Non-Student Contact Days

• Analyze academic and intervention data.
• Prepare intervention materials and student support plans.
• Collaborate with staff to review student progress and develop intervention strategies.
• Complete documentation and required reports.
• Participate in planning for school improvement and student success initiatives.

Professional Responsibilities

• Participate in district and building professional development.
• Attend MTSS, PLC, intervention, and student support meetings.
• Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based intervention strategies and best practices.
• Collaborate with administrators, teachers, counselors, and families to improve student outcomes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements / Environmental Conditions

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout classrooms and school buildings.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull instructional materials and technology as needed.
• Frequent interaction with students, families, teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff.
• Work is performed primarily in classrooms, intervention spaces, and school environments.
