NATURE OF POSITION
-
The Middle/High School Teacher will instruct students in assigned subject areas, develop methods and techniques, evaluate students’ progress, and maintain an effective instructional area.

The Middle/High School Teacher will work with department chairmen, advisory committees, various coordinators, and other service personnel in finishing current and applicable programs and services to each student.

The Middle/High School Teacher shall assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and, for the classroom, developing reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

The Middle/High School Teacher is responsible to the building principal.
TYPICAL DUTIES
-
Develop and prepare lesson plans for class and individual instruction.

Consider available equipment and materials, student records and resource personnel, and other relevant facts in an effort to develop a variety of appropriate and effective teaching methods and techniques to facilitate the students’ learning process.

Prepare for and instruct assigned classes, altering class and individual presentations as necessary to adjust for individual and class level differences.

Maintain discipline and enforce rules of conduct and behavior in accordance with school policies, rules, and regulations.

Attend faculty, student, professional, advisory committee, and other related meetings.

Prepare and maintain student and school records, reports, and inventories.
-
Evaluate student progress in accordance with established objectives by grading subject matter and test on a periodic and continuing basis.

Contribute supervision, knowledge, and skill in a variety of school activities such as after-school activities and community programs, taking tickets at school sporting, theatrical, and music events, chaperoning school dances and related extra-curricular tasks.

Work to improve his/her knowledge of subject area and development of teaching techniques.

Help in a cooperative effort to determine equipment and supplies needed for the curriculum program.

Utilize a variety of teaching methods, techniques, strategies, and aides in the best interest of his students.

Maintain an attractive and stimulating teaching station.

Perform all particular duties that are unique to the subject area assigned.

Perform other related duties and activities as assigned.
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
- Hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in education with an endorsement in appropriate subject matter as set by Montana state certification autorities.

Have specialized preparation emphasizing respective curriculum area.

Have the ability to cooperate and work well with the students and other staff members.
- Be willing to assume responsibility for his/her own professional growth and development.
- Demonstrate a genuine understanding and empathy for children.
- Be committed to the total school program.
