Senior Project Engineer, Control Systems

LHP Engineering Solutions is a global Functional Safety leader committed to creating safe transportation with developing technologies such as Electric Vehicles and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. At LHP we ensure Functional Safety and Cyber Security development of these systems and technologies by leveraging our core expertise with widely accepted standards such as AUTOSAR, ISO26262, ASPICE, ISO/SAE 21434.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer in Control Systems to deliver on-going client projects, and to further develop the capabilities of the team. In this role, you will be responsible for the specification, implementation and validation of control systems for a wide range of complex, clean propulsion and energy systems, including: xEV powertrains, power electronics, motors and drives, engines, transmissions, battery management systems, advanced thermal systems, and fuel cell systems. This will cover the full spectrum of control development, from core algorithm development, through to fully validated production control software (including safety software).

In this role, you will be primarily responsible for development of new control systems for a wide range of applications for our client base but may be expected to support other technical domains depending on the nature of the department workload.

In this role you will be responsible for

• Technical development of control solutions, covering requirements specification, algorithm development, component selection, implementation, calibration and validation
• Leading team members in the delivery of control solutions
• Mentoring of junior team members on assigned tasks
• Liaising with wider team members to organize and deliver project activities as required
• Leading verification and validation of control systems, by software or Model-in-Loop, Hardware-in-Loop & physical testing
• Supporting the wider engineering team, contributing to: systems engineering, electrical integration and communications integration
• Development of dynamic models, based on understanding of system dynamics over a wide range of physical domains
• Interfacing directly with clients and suppliers on technical issues
• Reporting of technical status internally and to customers
  
  

Key Competencies And Experience

• Degree in controls, electrical, electronics, or similar engineering discipline
• 5 years of experience in successful deployment of controls for complex systems
• Experience providing technical leadership to engineering project teams
• Solid understanding of physical principles and control techniques
• Fluency in model-based development languages for control software deployment, especially MATLAB-Simulink
  
  

Desirable Competencies And Experience

• Experience in programming for microcontrollers, or deployment of PLC controls
• Experience in development and validation of controls for production programs
• Experience with ISO 13849 and ISO 26262
