Position Summary:
The physical therapist assistant provides physical therapy services to optimize outcomes under the direction of a physical therapist in accordance with the mission, values, and objectives of LHMPTI. Services are provided in compliance with federal, state, Standards of Ethical Conduct for the Physical Therapist Assistant and payor guidelines. The physical therapist assistant respectfully interacts with all patients, caregivers, families, members of the LHMPTI team, including clinic leader, area leader and additional administration.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
· Treat all employees and patients according to LHMPTI Mission Statement and Core Values.
· Establish internal and external relationships of mutual trust and respect.
· Maintain the protected health information of LHMPTI patients.
· Document in accordance with professional, regulatory, LHMPTI and payor guidelines.
· Listen actively, demonstrate verbal, non-verbal, and written communication that is respectful and empathetic.
· Appropriate collaboration with supervising physical therapist regarding patient progression or change in patient status.
· Responsible for regular collaboration with staff, specifically supervising physical therapist.
· Provide effective therapeutic interventions that are patient centered. Interventions are biopsychosocial in application.
· Modification of tests/measures and treatment interventions to progress patients as directed by supervising physical therapist and/or to effectively meet patient goals/needs.
· Recognize and incorporate safety procedures, precautions, and contraindications in the delivery of services.
· Recognize when guidance from supervising physical therapist is necessary based on patient presentation.
· Use multiple sources (patient presentation, evidence-based practice, prior experience, colleagues) to guide application of interventions.
· Document timely, succinctly and meet all regulatory and LHMPTI guidelines.
· Incorporate feedback from area leader, clinic leader and supervising physical therapist to address areas needing improvement.
· Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
· Detail oriented and able to multi-task
