Surveillance Clerk – Risk Management (Temporary Assignment)
Location: Riverside, CA
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Surveillance Clerk to support the Risk Management team on a temporary assignment. This role is responsible for reviewing, recovering, documenting, and managing digital video evidence related to customer complaints, accidents, incidents, and administrative requests. The ideal candidate is highly organized, able to work independently, and comfortable handling confidential information in a structured, policy-driven environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Review and analyze video footage recorded in transit terminals, in response to customer complaints, accidents, incidents, and administrative requests
- Ensure complaints, accidents, and incidents within bus services are reviewed, downloaded, stored, and documented according to established procedures
- Recover and administer video evidence reports, ensuring accountability, accuracy, proper storage, and timely retrieval
- Research and investigate accident claims by identifying employees, vehicles, and schedules; coordinate wireless downloads, viewing, copying, and archiving of video footage
- Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, and Information Technology departments as part of the investigation and recovery process
- Review all requests for digital video evidence and distribute approved copies to authorized parties in accordance with agency policy
- Maintain detailed logs of all downloaded recordings, including event dates, request dates, download dates, and recipients
- Manage server storage by clearing downloaded videos in a timely manner and maintaining adequate file space
- Dispose of and/or destroy records and recordings in compliance with the agency’s retention policy
- Answer and screen incoming phone calls; schedule appointments; maintain confidential files
- Maintain claim data files in Access, including workers’ compensation files, OSHA reporting logs, and First Aid logs; archive documents as needed
- Assist with department mail processing and provide reception coverage as required
- Coordinate departmental projects and perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings
- Basic math skills, including the ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages and interpret bar graphs
- Knowledge of standard office equipment and personal computers
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel (required), and Access; ability to create and use spreadsheets effectively
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to follow written, oral, or diagram-based instructions
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and variables in standardized situations
Education & Experience Requirements
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
- Three years of senior-level clerical experience
- Two years of experience in claims, safety, OSHA, and/or risk management responsibilities
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Compensation: $28 to $30 per hour
