Overview
A growing manufacturing/distribution company in the Rockford area is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their accounting team. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations, with a strong focus on inventory, fixed assets, and reconciliations. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries and assist with month-end close
- Perform account reconciliations, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations
- Maintain and track fixed assets, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules
- Support inventory accounting, including valuation, reconciliation, and cycle count adjustments
- Assist with preparation of financial statements and reporting packages
- Analyze variances and provide insights into financial results
- Support audit requests and prepare documentation for internal and external auditors
- Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate costing and reporting
- Assist with ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- 0–2 years of accounting or audit experience (internships included)
- Experience with manufacturing or distribution environments required
- Hands-on experience with inventory, fixed assets, and account reconciliations
- Strong understanding of GAAP fundamentals
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.) and accounting systems
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
