Payroll Specialist

Pay Rate: $30.00 - $32.00 per hour
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join a growing organization in Pasadena. This is an excellent contract-to-hire opportunity for a payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and exceptional employee support.
Key Responsibilities
- Process multi-state payroll accurately and on time for hourly and salaried employees.
- Review and audit payroll data, including timecards, earnings, deductions, taxes, and garnishments.
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data integrity within the payroll system.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, timekeeping, deductions, benefits, and payroll policies.
- Reconcile payroll reports and assist with payroll audits.
- Process new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and other employee updates.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
- Partner with Human Resources, Benefits, and Accounting teams to resolve payroll-related issues.
- Prepare payroll-related reports and support month-end and year-end activities.
- Assist with process improvements and payroll system maintenance.
Qualifications
- 3 years of payroll processing experience.
- Experience processing high-volume payroll preferred.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and payroll compliance practices.
- Proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, UKG, Paycom, Paylocity, or similar HRIS/payroll platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including formulas, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- CPP certification is a plus.
