Payroll Accountant

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established construction industry organization to identify a Payroll Accountant for an immediate contract opportunity in the Mason, OH. This role is ideal for a payroll professional with experience in certified payroll reporting, multi-state payroll processing, and large employee populations. The position will support payroll compliance, reporting, and payroll-related accounting activities in a fast-paced environment. While initially a contract assignment, there may be an opportunity for extension based on business needs.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review certified payroll reports to ensure compliance with prevailing wage and project-specific requirements
• Support payroll processing and reporting activities for a workforce of 1,000 employees across multiple states
• Reconcile payroll data, investigate discrepancies, and assist with payroll-related accounting functions
• Review employee earnings, deductions, wage classifications, and job cost allocations for accuracy
• Assist with audit requests, compliance reporting, and documentation related to payroll activities
• Maintain payroll records and support process improvement initiatives within the payroll function

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of certified payroll experience preferred
• At least 3 years of previous payroll experience required
• Experience supporting payroll operations for 1,000 employees
• Multi-state payroll experience
• Understanding of prevailing wage requirements, certified payroll reporting, and payroll compliance regulations
• Union payroll experience is helpful but not required
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience working within payroll systems
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and analytical abilities
