Estimator (Temp to Perm)

LHH is looking for an Estimator for our client in Norwich, CT to support their commercial construction projects. This role will take ownership of developing cost estimates throughout all stages of preconstruction—from early concepts and schematic design through design development and final bid submission. The ideal candidate brings strong technical proficiency, deep understanding of construction market.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate material takeoffs, pricing analyses, and full project budgets across a range of commercial asset types (office, retail, healthcare, education, industrial, and multifamily developments)

• Interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and supporting documents to build complete and reliable cost estimates.

• Request, review, and level subcontractor and vendor proposals

• Partner with design teams during preconstruction to deliver pricing, engineering recommendations, and constructability guidance.

• Support the development of proposals, bid submissions, and presentation materials for both negotiated and hard‑bid projects.

• Review estimates completed by junior team members, offering feedback, quality control, and ongoing coaching.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.

• 7–10 years of estimating experience in commercial construction.

• Strong proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, OST, Sage Estimating, ProEst, or WinEst) and Microsoft Excel.

• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications across all trades.

• Familiarity with CSI divisions, local subcontractor markets, and construction means and methods.

Pay rate: $40.00-45.00/hr
