A leading industrial organization is seeking Electrical Engineers with expertise in Power Generation to lead electrical strategy across a diverse portfolio of solar PV, energy storage, and steam-based generation facilities. This role is responsible for reliability, grid integration, and capital investment across both renewable and thermal assets
1.) Director, Electrical Engineering Overvview
The Director of Electrical Engineering will lead electrical strategy across a diverse portfolio of solar PV, energy storage, and steam-based generation facilities. This role is responsible for reliability, grid integration, and capital investment across both renewable and thermal assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering strategy across 30 generation assets, including utility-scale solar, BESS, and steam/gas plants
- Oversee HV/MV/LV systems tied to substations, collector systems, generators, and plant distribution
- Drive integration of solar PV, inverters, energy storage, and traditional generation equipment (turbine generators, excitation systems)
- Provide leadership for plant expansions, solar/BESS deployments, and steam plant upgrades or life extension projects
- Establish design standards across hybrid generation environments (renewable thermal)
- Partner with operations to improve plant uptime, reduce forced outages, and optimize dispatch performance
- Lead grid interconnection strategy, utility coordination, and system impact considerations
- Oversee system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection coordination) across fleet assets
- Manage EPC firms, OEMs, and consulting partners across large-scale projects
- Build and mentor a high-performing electrical engineering teams
Qualification
- 15–20 years across power generation (solar, storage, and/or steam/gas plants)
- Strong experience with substations, interconnection, and plant electrical systems
- Leadership experience across multi-site operations
- PE license preferred
2.) Principal, Electrical Engineering Overview
The Principal Electrical Engineer serves as the technical authority supporting solar, storage, and steam generation assets. This role focuses on grid integration, system reliability, and high-impact engineering initiatives across hybrid generation infrastructure
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as SME for utility-scale solar, BESS, and steam/generator electrical systems
- Lead interconnection design and utility coordination (ISO/RTO, transmission providers)
- Perform advanced system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection coordination, inverter-based resource impacts)
- Support design and optimization of collector systems, substations, and plant electrical infrastructure
- Provide technical leadership for plant retrofits, solar storage integration, and generator upgrades
- Lead root cause analysis for system disturbances across renewable and thermal assets
- Develop engineering standards and best practices for hybrid generation systems
- Support vendor selection for inverters, transformers, relays, and major electrical equipment
- Mentor engineers and provide technical oversight across projects
Qualifications
- 10 years in power systems, including solar/BESS and/or steam generation
- Strong expertise in interconnection engineering and grid compliance
- Experience with both inverter-based and rotating generation assets
- PE license preferred
3.) Senior Electrical Engineer, Plant Systems Overview
The Senior Electrical Engineer supports engineering and execution of electrical systems across solar, energy storage, and steam generation facilities. This role focuses on project delivery, plant support, and system performance improvements
Key Responsibilities
- Design and support electrical systems for solar PV plants, BESS, substations, and steam plant auxiliary systems
- Support collector systems, inverter integration, and grid interconnection requirements
- Perform system studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and protection coordination
- Support capital projects (solar builds, battery installations, plant upgrades, equipment replacements)
- Troubleshoot electrical issues across both renewable and thermal generation assets
- Collaborate with O&M teams, EPC contractors, and OEMs to improve plant reliability and performance
- Support commissioning, testing, and startup of solar, storage, and steam plant systems
- Ensure compliance with codes, utility requirements, and safety standards
Qualifications
- 5 years in power systems, renewables, or generation environments
- Experience with solar PV, substations, or plant electrical systems required
- Exposure to steam/gas plant operations or rotating equipment preferred
- PE license preferred
In accordance with New York salary transparency requirements, the anticipated annual base salary range for positions is: $90k-$250k annually. Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated project leadership background.
