Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead and optimize a high-volume accounts payable function within a dynamic shared services environment. This role will oversee daily AP operations, manage and develop a team, drive process improvements, and ensure the accurate and timely processing of vendor payments. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership capabilities, extensive accounts payable expertise, advanced ERP knowledge, and a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable department, ensuring timely and accurate invoice processing and vendor payments.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of AP professionals, establishing performance expectations and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Monitor AP metrics and KPIs, identifying trends and opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and service levels.
- Partner with procurement, finance, treasury, and business operations teams to resolve payment issues and streamline workflows.
- Drive process improvement initiatives and support automation efforts within the AP function.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Support ERP system enhancements, upgrades, and future system implementations.
- Develop and maintain reporting dashboards and analytics to provide visibility into AP performance and key business metrics.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee issue resolution to ensure positive supplier partnerships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 7 years of progressive Accounts Payable experience in a high-volume environment.
- Minimum 2 years of direct people leadership experience managing and developing AP staff.
- Experience working with large ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP functions.
- Experience utilizing Power BI to create dashboards and provide operational insights.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable controls, vendor management, and payment processing best practices.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
