A growing mid-sized manufacturer in Sheboygan, WI is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations and support plant and corporate leadership. This role combines strong technical accounting responsibilities with operational finance, including cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing analysis.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all general accounting functions including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and fixed assets
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Oversee and maintain cost accounting systems, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
- Partner with plant leadership to analyze production costs, labor efficiencies, scrap, and inventory trends
- Monitor and strengthen internal controls, particularly around inventory and manufacturing processes
- Coordinate annual audits and work closely with external auditors and tax advisors
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, including departmental and plant-level input
- Ensure compliance with all tax filings, including sales/use tax and property tax
- Identify and implement process improvements across accounting and finance functions
- Supervise and develop accounting staff
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience
- 2 years of supervisory or management experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Plex, NetSuite, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills
Preferred
- CPA or CMA designation
- Experience with standard costing and inventory management
- Background in mid-sized or privately held companies
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
