- Identify, source, and secure construction materials, equipment, and services in line with project requirements and cost targets
- Prepare, issue, and oversee purchase orders, subcontracts, and vendor agreements throughout the procurement process
- Request and review bids and pricing from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive selection
- Coordinate delivery timelines to make sure materials arrive on schedule and support project timelines
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with vendors, manufacturers, and partners
- Evaluate and prequalify vendors based on financial health, safety standards, and past performance
- Lead negotiations around pricing, contract terms, and scope to drive cost efficiency and value engineering opportunities
- Monitor market conditions and pricing trends to support strategic purchasing decisions
- Partner with estimating and project teams to ensure procurement aligns with overall budget goals
- Track committed spending against project budgets and highlight potential overages, risks, or savings opportunities
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Estimators to fully understand project needs
- Align purchasing timelines with construction schedules to avoid delays
- Address and resolve material shortages or supply chain challenges in a timely, proactive manner
- Ensure all purchasing activities follow internal policies, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations
- Maintain organized and accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and vendor files
- Assist with reporting requirements and provide documentation support during audits
- Minimum 3-5 years of Buying experience, preferably within Construction industry
