LHB has an exciting summer internship opportunity for two (2) Structural Engineering students to work in our Duluth or Minneapolis Offices.

- As a Structural Engineering intern with LHB, you will have customized, hands-on training through direct project experience and related additional duties. In this internship you will prepare structural design calculations and drawings under the guidance of other structural designers and engineers. In this position you will participate in virtual and in-person project and department meetings, coordinate the structural design with other team members, and assist in project drafting. You will also perform construction site visits and field observations, answer field questions, and review construction submittals.
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited college
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel domestically, intermittently
- Ability to climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and work outside in most weather conditions
- Upon receipt of an offer of employment, applicants must be able to successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that will include a criminal/civil background check and drug screen, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations
- Prior completion of structural engineering courses including concrete and steel design
- Junior or Senior year of college
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Mathcad, and structural analysis software such as RISA and Enercalc
- Familiarity in using AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Familiarity with building and design codes
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work with constantly changing priorities
- MSHA Certification
- Ability to motivate and work productively with minimal supervision
- Ability to work on multiple tasks, respond positively to feedback, and openness and desire to learn
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing ability
- The anticipated rate of pay for this position is $20- $23 per hour. Offer will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
