We provide patients with a variety of psychiatric services, including medication management, TMS, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy.
We are seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with psychotherapists, dietitians, medical providers, nursing staff in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Overview:
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, and ongoing mental health treatment for adolescent and adult patients receiving care in our RTC, PHP, and IOP eating disorder programs. The PMHNP works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary treatment team to support patients with treatment and recovery from eating disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions, including anxiety/OCD, depression/mood disorders, trauma-related disorders, and neurodevelopmental conditions (i.e., ADHD, ASD). Basic management of co-occurring medical symptoms/conditions related to the eating disorder, in collaboration with the patients’ PCP/specialty providers and LGTC Medical Director.
This role includes both scheduled clinical responsibilities and limited, rotating on-call coverage by phone.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental status examinations.
- Diagnose and treat primary and co-occurring psychiatric conditions.
- Provide medication management for adolescent and adult patients in RTC, PHP, and IOP levels of care.
- Develop individualized psychiatric treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Monitor psychiatric symptoms, medication effectiveness, side effects, and basic medical safety concerns relevant to eating disorder treatment in collaboration with the program’s medical team.
- Collaborate closely with therapists, dietitians, nursing staff, primary care providers, and psychiatrists.
- Provide psychoeducation to patients and families regarding psychiatric diagnoses and medications.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and clinical case consultations.
- Complete accurate, timely, and compliant documentation within the EHR system.
- Support crisis assessment and intervention as clinically indicated.
- Maintain awareness of best practices in eating-disorder and other psychiatric treatment.
On-Call Responsibilities:
- Rotating, remote on-call duties by phone: Five evenings per month and one weekend per month.
- On-call bonus compensation provided for assigned coverage.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience treating co-occurring psychiatric conditions, including trauma-informed care.
- Comfort with managing basic, co-occurring medical needs of eating disorder patients (i.e., interpreting vital signs, labs, and initiating prescriptions for non-emergency medical symptoms related to the eating disorder) in collaboration with patients’ primary care /specialty providers and the LGTC Medical Director.
- Strong psychopharmacology and psychiatric assessment skills. Minimum 2–3 years of psychiatric experience. Experience treating adolescent and/or adult psychiatric populations.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team-based, multidisciplinary environment.
- Telehealth/telepsychiatry experience. Experience with EMR/EHR systems.
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Active California RN and NP license/furnishing number. Active DEA license.
- PMHNP board certification.
- Current BLS/CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in eating disorder treatment settings and understanding of Health at Every Size (HAES)-aligned care
- One on-site/in-person day per week for 5-8 hours.
- Familiarity with RTC, PHP, and IOP levels of care
- Crisis intervention experience
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time position (32-40 hours per week).
- Primarily telehealth with one in-person/onsite day per week for 5-8 hours.
