Buyer Job Description
Summary of the Role
Responsible for supporting the North American procurement & supply chain functions with a focus on day-to-day procurement operations, including placing and tracking purchase orders and assisting with price update files. You will learn and support the purchasing cycle from planning to procurement under the guidance of senior procurement team members.
Responsibilities
- Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures
- Places and tracks purchase orders, following up with suppliers to help ensure on-time delivery
- Assists in loading pricing update files into the ERP to ensure successful price updates
- Runs and maintains inventory reports; escalates findings and exceptions to senior team members
- Supports forecasting initiatives with sales and product business units
- Assists with monitoring slow-moving stock and flagging items for review
- Partners with Service Centers to help review ABC inventory levels and maintain system parameters
- Supports continuous improvement efforts (e.g., processes, use of systems, tools, and SOPs)
- Assists with efforts to further automate the procurement process (automated purchase orders & EDI)
- Participates in root cause analysis for issues that arise
- Collaborates with internal and external partners to understand their requirements and support solutions that meet the customer's needs
- Perform other duties as trained and qualified for

Minimum Qualifications
- Required travel of up to 10%
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree in business, supply chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proficiency in Excel required
- 0–2 years of relevant supply chain, procurement, or business experience (internships and co-ops considered)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Eagerness to learn and grow within a matrixed organization
- Ability to take direction, ask questions, and work through roadblocks with support
- Reliable transportation is a must
- Ability to work nights and weekends, as required
- Background checks and drug screening may be required
