CNC Lathe Machinist

We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Operator/Programmer with the ability to program, set up, and operate CNC equipment. Experience operating and programming a Flow Waterjet CNC machine is strongly preferred.

This is a hands-on manufacturing position for someone who can read technical drawings, select the appropriate tooling and materials, adjust machine programs, and produce accurate parts that meet customer specifications. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, troubleshooting production issues, and maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and related manufacturing equipment.
• Set up, program, and operate a Flow Waterjet CNC cutting machine.
• Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, technical specifications, and work instructions.
• Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs for new and existing parts.
• Load raw materials and properly position workpieces for machining or waterjet cutting.
• Select and install the correct tooling, inserts, fixtures, nozzles, and machine settings.
• Perform machine offsets, tool changes, and setup adjustments.
• Monitor machine performance throughout the production process.
• Inspect completed parts to ensure they meet dimensional and quality requirements.
• Use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and measuring tapes.
• Identify and correct programming, setup, tooling, and material-related issues.
• Complete first-piece inspections and make necessary machine adjustments before beginning production runs.
• Maintain accurate production, inspection, material usage, and machine records.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and keep equipment and work areas clean.
• Minimize scrap by monitoring quality and optimizing machine programs and cutting layouts.
• Work closely with production, engineering, quality, and maintenance team members.
• Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Perform other production and machining duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience operating and setting up CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience creating, editing, or modifying CNC machine programs.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
• Working knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, speeds, feeds, offsets, and tolerances.
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to perform shop math using whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and units of measurement.
• Basic computer and data-entry proficiency.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple production priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience with a Flow Waterjet CNC machine.
• Experience using FlowMaster, FlowPath, FlowCut, or comparable waterjet programming software.
• Experience programming waterjet cutting paths and optimizing material nesting.
• Familiarity with G-code, M-code, CAD/CAM software, and CNC controls.
• Experience machining or cutting metal, rubber, plastics, gasket materials, composites, or other industrial materials.
• Previous experience working in a custom or made-to-order manufacturing environment.
• Experience with quality inspections, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement practices.
