Health and Wellness Coordinator
Reports To: Program Director, CEO, and COO
Position Summary:
The Health and Wellness Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing wellness programs that promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of adolescents in a residential treatment environment. This role supports the organization’s mission by fostering a culture of health, balance, and positive lifestyle habits among residents and staff.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate wellness initiatives focused on nutrition, fitness, mindfulness, and emotional regulation.
- Create and maintain sustainable, culturally aware nutritional menus that promote healthy eating and are integrated into daily program routines.
- Conduct regular facility walkthroughs to ensure health and hygiene standards are maintained, including but not limited to inspecting refrigerators for expired or exposed food, monitoring pantry organization, checking bedroom conditions such as mattresses and linens, and assessing the cleanliness of bathrooms and common areas.
- Collaborate with medical, clinical, and residential teams to align wellness goals with treatment objectives.
- Facilitate group activities and educational sessions on topics such as self-care, healthy living, and coping skills.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on implementing health and wellness practices in their daily interactions with residents.
- Track and document resident participation and progress in wellness programs in accordance with organizational and HHSC requirements.
- Support compliance with state regulations and program standards for health and wellness initiatives.
- Represent the organization professionally in community partnerships and wellness-related events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in health education, behavioral health, nutrition, or a related field preferred; master’s degree desirable.
- Minimum of two years of supervisory or leadership experience within a General Residential Operation (GRO), Residential Treatment Center (RTC), or Foster Care program.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing sustainable nutritional and wellness programs.
- Working knowledge or familiarity with T3C principles within adolescent behavioral health.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to exercise autonomy, sound judgment, and discretion in a team environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
Schedule:
Full-time or part-time position; flexibility required to meet program and resident needs, including occasional evenings or weekends.
