Position Summary:
LGES Vertech is seeking an experienced Senior Supplier Quality Engineer specializing in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to support our growing BESS product line and other major PCS (power conversion systems). This role will ensure that our suppliers meet stringent quality standards, contribute to continuous improvement efforts, and help manage risk in the supply chain for critical BESS components. The SSQE will collaborate closely with suppliers, procurement, engineering, and quality teams to drive product quality from the concept phase through production launch and ongoing support.
Main Responsibilities:
New Supplier Selection Process:
- Define the Requirements based on the Customer Specific Requirements
- Identify the Potential Suppliers with Procurement team
- Collect the Information from Suppliers
- Preliminary Review of the Documentations
- Supplier Shortlisting
- Supplier Evaluation Audit and approval
New Projects:
- Review The Customers’ contracts and requirements
- Create the supplier’s requirement project based on customer requirements
- Request the Quality Documents to each supplier based on Customer and LGESVT
- Review all the Suppliers Documents “PQP, ITS, QMS, Control Plan…etc.”
- Create the Warranty and Quality Exhibit with procurement team
- Witness the first FAT at suppliers Sites
- Follow up the Suppliers NCR’s and SCAR/8D during the preliminary Project stages
- Make Lessons Learned Reports and hand over the project to execution teams
Non-Conformity Management for earlier stage:
- Follow up the Suppliers NCR and SCAR/8D with the Project team
- Review the supplier’s corrective actions and follow up with CAPA
- Organize a weekly NCR follow up with each supplier
- Plan an Audit supplier in case of Critical issue or repetitive issue
Suppliers Audit/Visit:
- Visit suppliers during a preliminary selection process and provide report of observations
- Audit the selected suppliers for approval and or in case of critical issues in earlier stages
- Visit the suppliers for the first FAT witness
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related field). Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CQE, CQA, Six Sigma) are preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years in supplier quality, quality engineering, or a related field, ideally in the energy storage, automotive, or electronics industries with a focus on BESS, batteries, or power systems.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and control plans
- Hands-on experience with quality tools (8D, 5-Whys, SPC) and familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma principles. Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
- Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and regulatory standards for BESS components
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of resolving complex quality issues
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with suppliers and internal teams effectively
Additional Qualifications:
- Willingness to travel to supplier and project sites as required (up to 40%)
- Familiarity with ERP/MES/QMS software for tracking supplier performance and quality metrics
- Knowledge of BESS technologies and components, including lithium-ion batteries, thermal management, and power electronics, is highly desirable
Salary : $130,000 - $165,000
