Engineer II, Quality. Holland, MI. Manage quality of cell product in ESS and automotive EV batteries. Identify defects and assess cell integrity. Analyze from cell product down to raw material to diagnose root cause of failure mode in microscale foreign material. Inspect/analyze aluminum battery pouch damage and battery insulation integrity. Conduct battery safety and reliability cycle testing to ensure quality assurance and warranty. Identify failure mechanisms on the cell final product. Track SPC data to monitor in-line product quality level. Define cell characteristic CTQ items failure root cause. Coordinate material tests, resolve issues. Validate cell failure root cause improvement items effectiveness. Perform product in-line process analysis, inspect data, diagnose quality. Requires Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely-related engineering field, and 2 years of experience performing quality engineering for EV Battery production, including quality data monitoring programs, six sigma techniques, 4M process, battery explosion tests, battery capacity and insulation resistance tests.
