Overview
This is an entry-level position for a GIS Technician. Incumbent performs assignments in accordance with Company procedures and generally accepted mapping standards and procedures for electric and landbase facilities. Understands technical aspects of the electric distribution infrastructure and how they relate to the GIS. Works under direct supervision and will perform special duties as requested.

Overview
This is an entry-level position for a GIS Technician. Incumbent performs assignments in accordance with Company procedures and generally accepted mapping standards and procedures for electric and landbase facilities. Understands technical aspects of the electric distribution infrastructure and how they relate to the GIS. Works under direct supervision and will perform special duties as requested.
Responsibilities
- Assist in mapping and field checks of electric, lights or landbase of new and existing facilities.
- Assist in processing facility records and documents including mapping in the GIS, document imaging and filing for off-site storage as required by DOT, KYPSC and/or Company policies.
- Employee will attend “Best Practices” sessions and participate as needed.
- Employee will utilize the GIS, office records and legacy systems to assist field personnel, engineering firms, management, etc. to locate existing facilities, provide facility information or assist as needed.
- Employee will report job progress, issues and other pertinent information relative to the work packets to leads or management as requested.
- Employee will be qualified to use all office equipment, document scanning equipment as required by assigned duties.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a two-year technical degree in one of the following fields; Geographical Information Systems or drafting/design or a combination of education and experience in a related field on a year for year basis
- Must have completed the company administered technical test requirements currently directed by the Human Resource Department.
