LG Chem is investing billions of dollars to expand our operations and footprint in the US. We have dedicated $3B to build a new manufacturing facility in Clarksville, TN, which will produce cathode materials for batteries for EV’s. This is one of the largest investments in recent years and with this comes the need to add highly skilled and experienced employees to our local team.
We are actively searching for a Director of Human Resources who will provide a full range of HR functions to support the day to day operations and establish the necessary standard operating procedures to align with federal, state and local laws. The incoming will need to be a generalist with extensive experience within a manufacturing setting and knowledgeable of employee relations, recruiting, payroll, new hire orientation, and coaching supervisors and managers. This position is based in Clarksville, TN and will eventually support an employee base of 900 (hourly and salaried).
Responsibilities
- Create the HR Department roadmap inclusive of additional headcount needed to support the HR Function, office administration, building security and other general responsibilities.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures in accordance with HR methodologies and labor laws.
- Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Establish a compensation plan that ensures competitive pay rates to attract and retain talent and structured to attain internal equity in pay ranges.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
- Generates Payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of transaction including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions.
- Evaluates employee performance and adjust their pay scale accordingly.
- Creates employee engagement plans and receive necessary budget approval and initiating activities.
- Generate official internal documents such as offer letters, appointment letters, salary slips and warning letters
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
Experience Requirements / Competencies
- Bachelor's degree or relevant experience required.
- 8-10 years of experience as an HRBP or Human Resources Generalist working in a matrixed environment required.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience leading the Human Resources function for a large, manufacturing facility required.
- Strong organizational, critical thinking and communications skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software (SAP_ERP), ADP.
