Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fleet Manager to oversee the organization, coordination, and management of our transportation fleet. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient vehicle operations, compliance with safety regulations, and optimal utilization of resources. This role requires strong communication skills, technical proficiency with transportation management systems, and a solid understanding of logistics and supply chain processes. The Fleet Manager will play a critical role in maintaining the seamless movement of freight and ensuring the overall effectiveness of our transportation operations.
Duties .
- Coordinate dispatching activities, including scheduling and routing of vehicles to optimize efficiency.
- Manage all aspects of dealership fleet operations, including acquisition, registration, maintenance, and disposal of vehicles.
- Oversee vehicle preparation, delivery, and logistics for fleet and commercial clients.
- Maintain accurate records for vehicle inventory, registration, insurance, and service histories.
- Monitor and schedule regular maintenance to ensure fleet reliability and compliance with manufacturer standards.
- Build and maintain relationships with commercial customers and vendors.
- Track expenses and develop strategies to improve fleet cost efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all state and local regulations.
- Responsible for filing and completing insurance claims made on the fleet if a vehicle is involved in an accident.
- Oversee shipping & receiving processes, ensuring timely delivery and pickup of freight.
- Maintain accurate data entry related to fleet activities, vehicle maintenance, and driver logs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in fleet management or transportation management roles.
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, registration, and dealership processes.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Familiarity with GIS, GPS tracking, shipping & receiving procedures, and freight logistics.
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret data for operational improvements.
- Proficiency in dispatching, data entry, typing skills, and multi-line phone systems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
