Job Title: Instructional Coach
Qualifications
- Valid SC educator certification;
- Bachelor's degree in education or administration preferred;
- Minimum of three years successful teaching and/or administrative experience;
- Demonstrated teacher leadership within current role and responsibilities;
- Has knowledge of and the ability to apply adult learning theory within professional learning experiences;
- Works effectively with adults and motivates them to change practices;
- Has knowledge of evidence-based research, quality student-centered instruction, and a depth of content knowledge;
- Has an ability to integrate disciplinary literacy strategies;
- Is experienced in data analysis to inform instruction; and,
- Has excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and time management skills.
Reports to: Principal
Performance Responsibilities: (includes but not limited to):
- Model evidence-based instructional practices through actual classroom demonstrations in rigorous, technology-rich, standards-based teaching;
- Observes teacher implementation of evidence-based instruction to ensure fidelity of practice and provides on-going formative feedback to develop teacher efficacy and skills;
- Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum and assessments;
- Assist teachers with integrating literacy practices into their content instruction to include the analysis, selection and use of rigorous content area texts that address all ability levels;
- Introduce teachers to new methods, materials, and instructional strategies that, through research, have proven to increase student achievement;
- Work with teachers individually, as well as collaboratively within teams and/or departments, providing practical support on a full range of instructional strategies;
- Participate in regularly scheduled grade-level, subject-specific, and team planning sessions that focus on curriculum, instruction, and student work;
- Train teachers in data analysis and using data to differentiate instruction;
- Facilitate inquiry groups among teachers where current research and writing on the integration of literacy and content instruction is read and discussed;
- Help lead and support the school's literacy leadership team;
- Support the administration and leadership team in the creation of the school's professional development plan with specific, measurable and attainable benchmarks for teacher and student performance; and,
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
