Job Description
Job Title: Instructional Assistant
Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: possess an associate's degree from an accredited college; or have earned 60 semester hours (or the equivalent) from an accredited college; or have GED or high school diploma and passing score on ParaPro test prior to employment. Must also have initiative, knowledge and understanding of children, the ability and willingness to work well with others, the ability to handle unforeseen situations in accordance with policy, and the ability to accept individual differences among children.
Job Goal: Under occasional supervision, performs specialized work by assisting teachers in instructing and directing the activities of students in the assigned classroom to provide a well organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment. Assists school administrators and staff with various administrative and clerical functions as requested.
Reports To: Principal
Performance Responsibilities: (includes but is not limited to)
Terms of Employment: 185 days based on Classified Salary Schedule Grade 7 or Grade 8 (Associate's Degree or higher).
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the Board's Policy.

- Assist students with assignments as instructed by the teacher
- Work in small groups on classroom activities under the supervision of the teacher.
- Participate in staff development training workshops to learn and update skills related to the position
- Perform other classroom duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor
