Position Overview:
Functions as an expert on the Lexington Humane Society’s Foster Care (FC) Program. Assists with the flow, placement, medical care, and return of foster animals. Assists to recruit, nurture, and educate volunteer foster caregivers. Requires a strong commitment to the mission and purpose of Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control (LFACC) and the Lexington Humane Society (LHS). Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or GED required. This is a non-exempt position reporting to the Manager of Animal Welfare.
Key Accountabilities:
- Prioritizes compassionate and humane treatment of animals
- Ensures all activities are carried out consistently with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Ensures an inclusive, consistent, and respectful working environment
- Upholds LHS mission and values during interactions with the public and volunteers
- Reviews and approves foster care volunteer applications and acquires appropriate volunteer waivers
- Serves as a contact for foster volunteers
- Responds to foster parents in a timely, professional, and consistent manner
- Resolves all foster parent concerns in a timely and respectful manner
- Communicates escalated issues to Manager of Animal Welfare as necessary
- Assists in the coordination and transfer of animals to the appropriate foster home matching skill level and availability
- Maintains appropriate volunteer records and database information
- Maintains and enhances volunteer communication and updates through email and telephone
- Coordinates and completes foster wellness visits, including booster vaccinations, re-checks, and drop-offs
- Partners with Foster Care Veterinary Assistant and Vet Tech (VT) to ensure foster animals receive appropriate and timely medical checks and treatments
- Stocks necessary supplies and organizes supplies for foster volunteer pick up
