Position Title:                1.0 FTE Long-Term Substitute ALPHA Academic Facilitator

 

Reports to:                    Building Principal and the Director of Counseling

 

Terms of Employment:  To cover a leave of absence from approximately January 6, 2025 through April 9, 2025 unless circumstances dictate a change.

 

$175 per diem, non-beneifts eligible position.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Familiarize new students with ALPHA room; help ensure student’s comfort during the first week.
  • Have students and families sign the program enrollment consent google form. 
  • Have students complete clinical and academic questionnaires at different times.
  • Send out an initial ALPHA program entry email to the student's teachers and team. 
  • Set up initial meetings with teachers and enrolled ALPHA students to discuss plans for re-entry into classes.
  • Address and forward concerns about quantity of work vs. student ability to clinical team and counseling; follow up with teachers accordingly (i.e. discuss grading alternatives, revisit plans, etc.).
  • Support students in identifying and planning weekly schedules and class attendance. 
  • Work with house secretaries/deans to ensure accurate attendance reports for students enrolled in ALPHA.
  • Report program attendance to dean secretaries by 3pm each day. 
  • Check each student’s school attendance on X2 each morning by 9:30 a.m.  AC will call family if the student should be in ALPHA, has not been seen and has not called into the dean’s office.
  • Provide individual tutoring, academic coaching, academic case management, and assist in keeping students on-task and organized while in ALPHA.
  • Help students with time management, checking and understanding assignments, completing makeup work, and scheduling makeup assessments; discuss with students their goals for the week.
  • Contact individual teachers to solicit feedback on student progress toward completing academic work and overall functioning in class while providing updates and feedback to teachers from the program side.
  • Supervise student use of the ALPHA room.
  • Arrange for any materials students need while in ALPHA to support academic progress.
  • Inform teachers when a student is expected to return to class and parameters of return. 
  • Inform teachers when the student will miss class due to absence or time spent in ALPHA.  Collect missed work if necessary.
  • Prepare and provide academic updates as needed to the ALPHA team and greater team members. 
  • Attend team meetings and provide a snapshot of ongoing academic progress and concerns.
  • Contribute to and assist in the special education process for ALPHA students when applicable. 
  • Conduct pre-referral consult with counselor, social worker, and/or resource teacher

 

Job Qualifications:

 

Must have a MA DESE license at the appropriate grade level

 

Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and possess a high level of capability with technology.

 

Must be able to assist in the protection of students and school property, assist the principal in fire and other emergency drills as required by law and School Committee policy
