GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Lexington Senior Center is looking for Pottery Instructors!
Do you have experience leading pottery classes?
Would you enjoy working with Senior adults?
We are taking interest forms for Independent Contractors to lead pottery classes at the Lexington Senior Center!
- Rate of pay is $15.00 - $25.00 per hour based on experience
- Classes are scheduled Monday - Friday between 9am-4pm with hours ranging between 4 and 15 per week. (No benefits are included)
Required experience includes:
- Ability to work with varying pottery styles and teach those styles in a setting with multiple adult students.
- Experience working with adults over the age of 60 is preferred.
- May be subject to a Criminal Record check
Responsibilities may include:
- Teaching beginning, intermediate, and/or advanced pottery classes. This includes wheel throwing, hand building, glazing, and firing.

Preparing demonstrations and instructional materials to teach different pottery techniques at varying skill levels.
- Develop lesson plans accordingly

Ensuring the pottery studio is organized and well-maintained, creating a safe and efficient workspace.
- Proper operation and maintenance of studio equipment to include kilns, pottery wheels, clay, and tools
- Following all safety protocols in the studio

Inventory pottery supplies to ensure adequate stock is available
- Submit request for supplies as needed

Studio and Tech Work to include:
- Ability to use Pug Mill and oversee its maintenance
- Unloading, loading, setting up, and programming the kilns for various firing cycles
