Substitute Information
To become a substitute in Lexington District Three, you must first complete a Substitute Application in App Track Proof of education (Diploma/ GED), Teaching Certificate, Substitute Training Certificate, and/or your ParaPro exam results should be included with your AppliTrack application.
As additional subs are needed: applications are reviewed, candidates are selected, mandatory SLED and Sex Offender checks are completed, and references are checked. Next, the results of a tuberculin (TB) test completed within 364 days, along with a copy of your driver's license, and social security card must be submitted before hire.
If selected to sub, you will be notified by phone:- When you are called to work your first day as a substitute, please contact Jessica Frye at 803-532-1746 to schedule an appointment to complete employment paperwork. This needs to be done on your first day as a substitute.
2018-2019 PROCEDURES FOR SUBSTITUTE PAY
- $55 per day - substitutes for a non-certified position (secretarial, teaching assistant)
- $55 per day - substitutes with only a high school diploma/ GED who substitute for a certified teacher
- $60 per day - substitutes with only a high school diploma/GED and have successfully completed the district's Substitute Training course, who substitute for a certified teacher
- $70 per day - substitutes who hold a current teaching certificate or retired educator certificate who substitute for a certified teacher
- Pay is listed below for district employees who substitute for a different job, such as foodservice operator or custodian.
- Certified and non-certified sub pay is based on¼ day increments.*
¼ day- sub will be paid a minimum of½ day
½ day- sub will be paid for ½ day
¾ day- sub will be paid for ¾ day
1 full day- sub will be paid for 1 full day
*Example - if you only work¼ of a day during a regular school day, you will receive sub pay for a minimum of ½ day. If you work ¼ day for one person and ¼ day for another person during the same regular school day, you will receive sub pay for a maximum of ½ day.
Long Term $nhstjtute
- Definition - sub for five consecutive days or more in the same assignment
- Pay for a non-certified position will increase from $55 to $60 per day on the 21st consecutive day.
- A certified teacher who does not hold a current certificate in the subject area being taught will be paid $70.00 for the first 20 days of a consecutive long-term assignment. On the 21st day, this will increase to step14ce1tificate pay and will be based on certification class. A retired teacher's salary will be based on certification class plus district negotiated salary on the 21st day.
- A certified teacher who holds a current professional teaching certificate in the subject area being taught will be paid based on certification class and will max out at step14certificate pay. A retired teacher who holds a current professional teaching certificate in the subject area being taught will be paid based on step 14 certificate pay. Pay for a certified teacher will be based on certification class beginning on the first day of the assignment as a long-term substitute for a certified position as long as the substitution is for 5 consecutive days or longer.
