What are the responsibilities and job description for the North Campus Cook (PT) position at LEXINGTON CHRISTIAN ACADEMY?
Lexington Christian Academy is accepting applications for the position of part-time North Campus Cook for the 2026-2027 academic year, beginning in August 2026. The North Campus Cook is responsible for the cooking, kitchen cleaning, and preparation of hot meals and ready-to-eat foods on North Campus during dinner service throughout the academic year. The position is part time, with typical hours from 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. However, hours may vary due to the needs of the students and special events. Main Campus shifts may also be expected of the North Campus cook from time to time.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Food Preparation and Service
Prepare and cook dinner during the weekdays at the North Campus dorm during the academic year when school is in session
Work alongside the Executive Chef in the preparation and design of all food and drinks menus
Read and follow recipes
Ensures quality standards in food prep and presentation are always observed
Consistently follows standard portion control, food safety, and sanitation protocols
Inspects all equipment at beginning and end of shift to ensure proper safe function
Pull and prepare food for following days
Receive, store and rotate inventory
Serve food to students and staff residing at North Campus
Professionalism
Arrive for shifts clean, presentable, and in a work appropriate uniform
Work with North Campus kitchen support staff in the opening and closing of the kitchen every day
Perform end of day cleaning of the kitchen, as well as maintaining a clean work environment during the shift
Complete some tasks independently as well as close the kitchen at the end of the night
QUALIFICATIONS
Passion for LCA’s mission

3-5 years cooking experience
Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
Good organizational skills
Punctuality and flexibility
Positive attitude when interacting with students and colleagues
Desire to gain new skills and progress in your career
ServSafe certification or the ability to gain certification
Culinary education preferred but not required
Ability to stand for long periods of time, reach, bend, push and/or pull, and lift up to 35 pounds
SCHEDULE & WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a part-time position on the Academic work cycle.
