What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counseling Intern position at LEXINGTON CHRISTIAN ACADEMY?
RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Student Support
Provide individual short-term, solution-focused counseling to students
Facilitate small-group counseling (e.g. anxiety, peer relationships, executive functioning)
Assist with crisis response and risk assessment under supervision
Promote student well-being through preventative and developmental appropriate interventions
Indirect Student Support
Assist in planning and delivering school-wide social-emotional learning (SEL) programming
Support prevention initiatives (e.g. mental health awareness, peer support programs)
Integrate faith-based principles into counseling practices and programs
Documentation & Professional Practice
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant case notes and documentation
Adhere to ethical, legal, and school-based guidelines (e.g., confidentially, mandated reporting)
Ensure confidential records of all students per laws and regulations
Participate in weekly supervision, ongoing self-reflection, and demonstrate professional growth
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Demonstrate competency in individual and group counseling skills
Apply developmental and counseling theories in practice
Demonstrate ethical decision-making aligned with professional counseling standards
Develop skills in data-informed decision-making

Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Counseling, or related field
