Job Overview
Lexington Children's Museum seeks a Experience Associate to join a dynamic team that sparks curiosity in young minds. The ideal candidate will display passion for the Lexington Children's Museum mission and the impact they will have on their community. We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative person with strong organizational and communication skills; quick-thinking; self-motivated; a desire to work with a team of staff and volunteers; and exceptional abilities to work with the public.
Duties
- Maintain a fun, safe, clean, & welcoming museum environment by providing support and continually striving to meet customer needs and improve the visitor experience, while following Museum procedures and expectations.
- Greet, welcome, and engage with guests visiting the museum, including but not limited to facilitating exhibits, facilitating educational programs, facilitating birthday parties and birthday party activities, following Museum procedures and expectations, providing excellent guest service.
- Open and close the museum properly, ensuring exhibits are in proper condition for safety and function.
- Maintain current knowledge of all membership, programming, special events and exhibits.
- Support membership sales, including active selling, taking payment and data entry.
- Support Gift Shop including cashiering, stocking, cleaning.
- Perform routine facility janitorial duties, ensuring cleanliness of Museum.
- Perform routine exhibit up-keep, and janitorial duties, ensuring cleanliness of exhibits and galleries.
- Participate in off-site educational or promotional opportunities, as assigned.
- Assist in training new employees, as assigned.
- Support fellow Experience staff, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Guest-focused and possess a friendly, enthusiastic, and engaging personality
- Ability to handle high levels of point-of-sale processing.
- Enjoy working with children and people of all ages.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrates leadership, creativity, organization, and promptness.
- Performs effectively both independently and in collaboration with diverse groups of people, showing flexibility in order to meet guest needs.
- Successful applicants will be self-directed and mission-driven, with high integrity, idealism, and a positive attitude
- Proficiency with Outlook
- Experience with Customer Service
- Experience with P.O.S. software
- Highly effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Communicates well with co-workers, members, visitors and the general public.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to navigate the museum building and spaces. Must be comfortable working in a loud environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and evening shifts.
- Should have reliable transportation.
