Position Summary
Lead Bartender to oversee bar operations while delivering exceptional guest experiences. The Lead Bartender serves as a role model for the bar team, ensuring high standards of service, beverage quality, cleanliness, and compliance with all alcohol service regulations. This position combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on bartending in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to company recipes and quality standards.
- Provide outstanding customer service by engaging with guests in a friendly, professional manner.
- Lead, mentor, and support bartenders and barbacks during shifts.
- Assist with scheduling, training, onboarding, and performance coaching of bar staff.
- Ensure the bar is clean, organized, stocked, and operating efficiently throughout each shift.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs to management.
- Perform inventory counts and assist in controlling beverage costs and minimizing waste.
- Verify guest identification and ensure responsible alcohol service in accordance with all local and state laws.
- Maintain knowledge of current drink menus, seasonal cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits.
- Handle guest concerns professionally and resolve issues promptly.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, cash handling, and end-of-shift reconciliation.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and company policies.
- Collaborate with managers and kitchen staff to create a seamless guest experience.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2–3 years of bartending experience, with previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain composed in a high-volume environment.
- Excellent customer service and conflict-resolution skills.
- Experience using POS systems and handling cash accurately.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Must meet all legal requirements for serving alcohol in the applicable jurisdiction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bartending certification (where applicable).
- Experience with inventory management and ordering.
- Knowledge of craft cocktails and mixology.
- Food Handler's Permit and alcohol service certification, if required.
