Workers’ Compensation Paralegal (Experienced)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Paralegal to support multiple attorneys in a fast-paced, high-volume legal environment. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who can work independently, manage competing priorities, and proactively support attorneys in meeting strict deadlines under North Carolina workers’ compensation procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management & Organization: Managing a high volume of cases, monitoring deadlines, and maintaining extensive electronic files using case management software
Investigation and Research: Gathering facts of the case, requesting records from various vendors, interviewing clients and witnesses, and identifying third-party liabilities
Medical Records Management: Requesting, gathering, analyzing and summarizing medical records, bills, and reports
Document Drafting & Filing: Drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, correspondence, and settlement demand letters
Trial & Hearing Preparation: Assisting attorneys in preparing for hearings, depositions, and trials. This includes preparing exhibits, managing witness schedules, and organizing trial binders
Client Communication: Serve as a liaison, providing updates and gathering information from clients, adjusters, and healthcare providers
Key Skills and Qualifications
Minimum of 3-5 years of workers’ compensation paralegal experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
Experience in reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing medical and other case-related documents and records
Well-developed writing and research skills
Experience drafting pleadings, discovery and routine correspondence
The ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people
The ability to anticipate attorney needs, identifying problems and finding solutions
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize workload
Experience in managing electronic and paper filing systems, including local and state courts
Experience with NetDocuments or similar file management system preferred
